Mother Beats Bronte Beach Baby Stealer

SYDNEY- 38 year old man attempts abduction a very young 7 week old baby boy at Bronte Beach,

in Sydney Australia.

It was at six pm on a Monday evening when the 31 year old mother and baby boy were lying on the beach on a towel. A 38 year old man approached the woman and her son and tried to snatch the baby. As a result, the mother pushed the man away, suffering minor injuries without getting any medical treatment.

Eventually lifeguards came running to help the poor woman out, while restraining the man before the police arrived. The man ended up going to jail and was charged with common assault as well as attempted abduction. The man was later seen at Waverley Court and will be appearing in Central Court on February 16th, 2016.

Crime Manager Chief Inspector Rowan Cramsie said that several people who helped the woman out may have witnessed alleged assault later before the police arrived.

“If it had happened later there would have been no guards around. People expect to be safe at the beach, you don’t expect a person do something outrageous like try to take a baby,” said Rowan.

Bronte Surf Life Saving Club President Basil Scaffidi said the woman was fortunate that Waverley Council Lifeguards were there at the time and were able to help.
