STARS FORCED TO END THE SEASON

STARS FORWARD BEC ALLEN IN ACTION.

SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND- The WNBL team South east Queensland stars are the latest team to be forced to end the season early after a shortage of money left them hanging.

The women’s basketball team SEQ stars announced that the team would fold immediately. The stars chairmen Jarrod Sierocki confirmed that it was a lack of attendance and sponsorship that left the team in misery. The team, coached by Australian great Shane Heal were running fifth on the WNBL ladder and fighting for a finals spot before the clubs owner pulled the pin on Wednesday.

A recent update has shown that some community sponsors have been able to save the stars and let them finish the season.

But unfortunately as part of the deal with the sponsors it has been a get up and get out for Shane Heal. “I’m just happy that the team will be able to finish the season and while I am obviously disappointed, the game is bigger than one person.” The former Olympian said. “Hopefully this also means the club can find a way to continue for many years to come.”

Paul Goriss from basketball Australia will replace Heal for the rest of the 2015/16 WNBL season.
