The Tail of Emily Windsnap

The Tail of Emily Windsnap was written in 2003, by author Liz Kessler, illustrated by Sally Gibb, and published by Orionin Britain. It became a series about a girl who lived on a boat all her life, and found out that she was a mermaid during school swimming lesson. She then ended up on an adventure of a lifetime to save her mother's memory and find her father!

Liz Kessler got the inspiration from a poem that she was in the middle of writing, ‘little girl who lived on a boat but had a big secret.’ Emily Windsnap lives on a boat with her mum,who is yet so cautious of keeping Emily and herself away from the water. Emily has no idea who, or where her father is, neither does she know what happened to him. When she starts year 7 she is finally allowed to take swimming lessons. It all went when untill Emily felt her legs begin to tingle. She ends up being rescued by the coach. He thinks it’s just a cramp but Emily felt something he didn’t see. That night Emily goes out into the water, only to discover that she’s a mermaid. When Emily goes for a swim she soon finds an underwater kingdom!
