Woolworths Secret Weapon
Woolworths Secret Weapon Piyumi De Zoysa, Student reporter 2 March, 2016 SYDNEY- In Sydney’s busiest train station, Bondi Junction, Woolworths has opened a new service, Click & Collect at the train station. Now busy people that go to work on the train will find this new idea very useful. NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance reported that the recent initiative aims to save busy people lots of the time during the mad evening rush. Rather than rushing to the supermarket to buy the much needed groceries, they can quickly order their food before 11am for pickup that evening with the minimum spend of $30. The new pick-up service is thought to be Australia’s first which is based on a similar setup on London’s underground. Currently this is a testing period and if it is proved to be a success, the stage two trial will take place in Parramatta, located in Sydney’s western suburbs. Woolworths hope that this new initiative will help boost their profits as they have recently been falling with their ongoing battle with Coles, Aldi and other various supermarket chains. While Aldi, Coles and Woolworths all offer home delivery, if Woolworths latest move is a success it could gain an edge on the ongoing competition.
