Alleycat

Turn around the corner into theatre place and you see the gorgeous oak trees towering over everything. Alley Cat Cafe has an exquisite location, but you will be amazed at how many people would miss it. The cafe has been open with the present owners for 3 years, but it was first bought in 2005 by the past owners. If your an early bird the opening hours are great for you (9:00- 5:00 7 days a week). The owners of Alley cat also own a gift shop 2 doors down from Alley cat, which I believe is very successful.

Alley cat had a lovely feel and they made up for the small space with incredibly detailed decór. Alley cat had a retro feel, that was tied together with a pastel yellow scooter out the front. The walls were black and the lights were dimmed so it had a cool 70’s feel. They had a display of a range of cakes that looked absolutely delicious. Alley cat had vintage metal posters and a giant ice cream statue on the wall and the posters matched the theme of the cafe. The tables were clean, everything was topped up with water and there is cutlery set out on the table. The outdoor area was a great place for a sunny afternoon and it was a gorgeous spot to have a cafe.

As my plate reached the table, the smell of tepid melted cheese and fresh gourmet ham wafted up to my nose. The crisp bread looked slightly crunchy and had a perfect golden brown tint to it. The presentation was simple, yet gorgeous and the look of made me want order seconds. When I took a small bite out of the toasted sandwich, and it practically blew me away. The cheese was melty and warm in my mouth and there was no cons with the cheese being too salty or tasteless…. It's was perfect! The ham was cut beautifully and it was obvious that the chef had taken time to make sure that there was to fat on the ham and that all customers got higher quality food than most cafes in the area.

I really enjoyed my experience at Alley cat. This cafe blew me away, the food, the decór and to think that this was run by only 2 owners. The only I think that wasn’t as good as it could be was having more nut free options as a lot of people would struggle eating at this cafe because of that. But besides that everything was absolutely perfect. I recommend the ham and cheese toastie because it was amazing.
